Background Information

The B.C. Social Innovation Council was appointed in January 2011 to ensure direct consultation, advice and feedback on proposals to support social innovation in BC.  The Council's mandate is to make recommendations to the Parliamentary Secretary on Social Entrepreneurship to maximize social innovation in British Columbia, with an emphasis on social finance and social enterprise.

The Council is announcing their recommendations at our April 27, 2012 event in Vancouver.  Their recommendations should be read in conjunction with two other documents:  Together:  Respecting our Future (http://socialinnovationbc.ca/), and Taking Care (http://socialinnovationbc.ca/about/ )

The Council is grateful for the feedback we received from individuals and organizations, including community and the not for profit sector; youth; and academic, business and government stakeholders.
